Welcome to Wharfedale Family History Research
Discover the life and times of your ancestors
Yorkshire based Wharfedale Research is dedicated to helping you discover more about your ancestry and your family’s history, wherever and whenever they lived out their lives.
Who were your ancestors? What were their names? Where did they live? How did they earn a living? Were they rich or poor? What part did they play in the two world wars? Did they emigrate abroad or arrive in the UK from elsewhere? Were those family stories that have been pased on down the generations actually true? These are some of the questions most of us have asked ourselves at one time or another but perhaps never found all of the answers.
If you’ve ever wondered about the life and times of your ancestors but not known where to start with your family tree, or your curiosity about your family history got you started but you’ve been struggling to make progress, I’m here to help.
With over 20 years’ experience researching my own family's history (available on-line), as well as undertaking the task for others in the UK and as far afield as Australia and India, I've built up an extensive knowledge base and enhanced the skills necessary to deliver thoroughly researched and documented outcomes. I've access to thousands of records held locally in the various archives throughout Yorkshire and numerous on-line data sources to provide high quality family history research alongside a friendly, efficient service at competitive prices.
From obtaining a birth, marriage or death certificate, locating individuals and families in the census, parish and other historical records, delving into a house’s history and its previous occupants, through to tracing a full family tree across the decades, no project is too small or too much trouble.
I offer a free, no obligation, initial consultation to help you decide what to do next. If you go ahead and commission a research project, choose from fixed price packages or the bespoke service which can be tailored to meet your particular research objectives and budget. There's also nothing quite like the thrill of discovering your ancestors for yourself, so I also offer advice on any aspect of genealogical research to help you make progress with your own project or, if you are a beginner, to help get you started out on the journey of discovering your family's past.
Find out more by selecting from the menu links shown on this page. The site uses SSL encryption so you can be assured that the information you provide is secure.
I adhere to the standards and good practices considered essential in the conduct of genealogical research - for more about this see the article "Principles of Genealogical Research" (link on the right or at the bottom of the page if you are using a mobile device).
Whatever it is you want to discover about your family history and the life and times of your ancestors, I look forward to hearing from you.
